This “Only for Genius” puzzle looks very simple, Let see if you can find out the logic behind this viral puzzle.

Here is our Math puzzle Question:

if

  • 2=6,
  • 3=12,
  • 4=20,
  • 5=30,
  • 6=42,

then 9=??

This Math puzzle can be solved by two ways:

First Way:

  • 2 x 2 + 2 = 6
  • 3 x 3 + 3 = 12
  • 4 x 4 + 4 = 20
  • 9 x 9 + 9 = 90

So the answer is: 90

Second Way: 

just multiply the number with next upcoming number. like if 2 is given, then 2 x 3 = 6 and so on. So if we have 9, then 9 x 10 = 90

  • 2 = 6   (2 x 3)
  • 3 = 12 (3 x 4)
  • 4 = 20 (4 x 5)
  • 5= 30 (5 x 6)
  • 6 = 42 (6 x 7)
  • 9 = ?  (9 x 10)

So in both case, our answer is 90

    • I saw the same pattern, but just in the answer. Where the difference in the answer starts with a factor of 6, and then each “answer” is increased by 2. Which makes 9=84. I’m glad I’m not the only one who saw it that way.

  2. I get 72. The numbers shown indicate the multipliers from top to bottom (where = sign is) are 3, 4, 5, 6, 7. The next number would be an 8. 9×8=72.

  3. You can also say, doubling the number below and adding it to the answer above gives you the next answer…(3×2)+6= 12
    (4×2)+12=20
    (5×2)+20=30
    (6×2)+30=42
    (9×2)+42=60

  6. I saw a different pattern 5=30 6=42 7=56 8=72 9=90. Each answer goes higher by 2. 30-42 is 12,42-56 is 14, 56-72 is 16,72-90 is 18

    3=12 –> difference is 9 –> 3*3
    4=20 –> difference is 16 –> 4*4
    5=30 –> difference is 25 –> 5*5
    6=42 –> difference is 36 –> 6*6
    9=58 –> difference is 49 –> 7*7

    • 2+4=6
      3+9=12
      4+16=20
      5+25=30
      6+36=42
      9+49=58
      Because:
      4+5=9
      9+7=16
      16+9=25
      25+11=36
      36+13=49
      (Follow the odd number.)

    • If you see Left hand Side Numbers..Its Just One Of Patterns! 2*3= 6 Matches the RHS first No. 6
      3*4= 12 Matches the RHS Second No. 12
      4*5= 20 ” ” third No. 20
      5*6= 30 ” ” Fourth No. 30
      6*7= 42 ” ” Fifth No. 42

      7 & 8 Are Missing So We Have to Go According to Pattern
      So, 7*8= 56 ” ” Sixth No. Will Be 56
      8*9= 72 ” ” Seventh No. will be 72
      9=??? So, 9*10=90 ” ” Eight No. Will Be 90
      So Ans Is 90.

        • I also have the same answer-90.But in another ways.
          2*2+2=6
          3*3+3=12
          4*4+4=20
          5*5+5=30
          6*6+6=42
          9*9+9=90
          (Don’t change the question by adding other numbers.)

  9. Another solution is use the formula n+(n)to power 2 : where n is any number on left column .hence try n= 2 so 2 + (2) to power 2 = 6 , n=3 so 3+(3) to power 2= 12 , until n=9 so 9+(9)to power 2=90 anwer. therefore any positive number on left column, example if beginning number is 20 so 20 +(20)to power 2 =420. but negative number is not applicable to this formula.

If you multiple it:        2=6       2×3=6        3=12     3×4=12        4=20     4×5=20        5=30     5×6=30        6=42     6×7=42        7=56     7×8=56        8=72     8×9=72        9=??      9×10=90So your answer is 9=90. I got the answer by one number higher then the number before the equal sign. so 2×3, 3×4, 4×5 and so on. My work on the right show you how I got my answer.

  11. Or you can have the same result with an other way. The probleme come with a false equation 2=6 so it’s like you said 2 banana equal 6 apple, so 3 banana = 12 pears, ect you can deduct the paterns like this

    2=6
    3=12 (so last result +6)
    4=20 (so last result +8)
    5=30 (so last result +10)
    6=42 (so last result +12)
    7=56 (last result +14)
    8=72 (last result +16)
    9=90 (last result +18)

    6,8,10,12,14,16,18

    Just add + 2

  12. Joseph…….You MUST be accurate when doing Math or YOU will end up with incorrect answer…….56+16=72….NOT 82
